Tennessee Baseball 2024: A Season of Promise and History
Vols Earn Preseason Recognition, Make NCAA Record
The 2024 season is shaping up to be another historic one for Tennessee Baseball. The Vols have been named SEC Preseason Co-Champions, and they also have three players named to SEC Preseason Teams: Jake Rucker, Connor Pavolony, and Drew Gilbert. Additionally, Tennessee is the first team in NCAA history to have five players hit at least 20 homers in a season.
Perfect Game Team of the Year
In addition to their preseason recognition, Tennessee was also named the Perfect Game Team of the Year. This award is given annually to the top team in college baseball, and it is based on a combination of factors, including win-loss record, strength of schedule, and individual player accomplishments. Tennessee's 45-17 record, SEC Championship, and College World Series appearance were all factors in their selection for this prestigious award.
High Expectations for 2024
With so much talent returning, Tennessee has high expectations for the 2024 season. The Vols will be looking to win their first SEC Championship since 2005 and their first College World Series title since 1998. They will also be looking to improve on their 2023 record of 57-16. With a strong pitching staff and a powerful offense, Tennessee has the potential to be one of the best teams in college baseball in 2024.
